Jim Berns, who has run for office in Cincinnati, has now found success in the area's newest charity.

In January, Berns, who ran twice for U.S. Congress, twice for City Council, three times for State Representative and twice for Cincinnati School Board, founded Travel Donations. The purpose of Travel Donations is to connect ordinary travelers with charities needing donations worldwide.

Ordinary people, churches, schools, scouts and other organizations fill suitcases with clothes, school supplies, toys and medical items. Travel Donations then finds a traveler and has them deliver the suitcase to an orphanage or charity in their destination country.

"We have been wildly successful already delivering suitcases to Mexico, Chile, Honduras, El Salvador, South Africa and shortly to Russia and India."

"We have connected two huge resources: generous Americans who would like to help with donated items and travelers with good hearts to deliver the donations.

Berns is hoping to find more people and organizations to fill suitcases and travelers to deliver them.

Travel Donations is a Cincinnati based not-for-profit charity. Travel Donations is applying for tax-exempt status and, if successful, donations may become tax deductible.
